Himes is right for Congress
[The seriousness of the problems facing our country, from global warming, to our weakened economy, to the war in Iraq, demands that we have smart, capable elected officials who are willing to tackle the problems at hand with new ideas and a fresh perspective. I believe that Jim Himes, the Democratic Candidate from the 4th Congressional District, has the right qualities to help our country get back on track.
Jim has an extraordinary background, professionally, personally and academically. Jim is a graduate of Harvard College and as a Rhodes Scholar attended Oxford University in England. His resume includes over a decade of experience at Goldman Sachs where he worked his way up from an entry level position to Vice President. For the past four years, Jim has run the Northeast operations of Enterprise Community Partners, a national nonprofit organization addressing the complex issues of urban poverty.
In our local community, Jim served as a Commissioner of the Greenwich Housing Authority, ultimately chairing the board and leading it through a much needed program of reforms. Jim went on to become an elected member of his town’s finance board, setting tax and budget policy for the town as a whole. He is the former chairman of the board of Bridgeport-based Aspira of Connecticut, which promotes academic success and leadership development of Puerto Rican and Latino youth in our community.
Finding candidates for elected office who have a history of community service, a solid professional background, and a record of high achievement is rare. We are fortunate to have such a candidate in the 4th Congressional District. We need Jim Himes to represent us in Congress and begin to help our country solve the serious problems that we face as a nation. Elect Jim Himes for Congress.
