Electing Jim Himes will be a step forward for our country

[Oct. 6, 2008] We need a change. Jim Himes is who we need to represent us in Washington. The day before the Iraq War started, under the false pretense we were sending US troop in harms way to find the WMDs (weapons of mass destruction): the price of oil was $24. per barrel. The national debt was approximately $5 trillion. Oil will stay at $100 plus per barrel under Chris Shays' watch. Our national debt is $11 trillion (give or take a few hundred billion). Chris Shays, what is the plan for energy independence? Where is the $6 trillion and what do we have to show for it?

Jim Himes will fight for the change we need to stabilize our financial markets. He will help lead the search for energy independence. Help Barack Obama bring our troops home responsibly. And ask the question, where is the $6 trillion and what have we got to show for it?

Jim Himes will also bring a focus to one significant problem Chris Shays has not mentioned. Prevention of underage drinking and drug use, which is reaching almost epidemic proportions in Fairfield County.

A vote for Jim Himes is a vote for change of the status quo in Washington and a step forward for our country.
