Letter to Redding Pilot: Dolan calls for 'needed change'

KDolan[Aug. 1, 2008] I am tired of fiscal irresponsibility. President Bush inherited the largest tax surplus in U.S history yet added over $3.5 trillion to our national debt, over $400 billion a year (excluding the costs of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan). Jim Himes will work in Congress to restore discipline to government spending and in refocusing Congress’s priorities, such as middle class tax relief by shifting away from previous misguided special tax breaks for large corporations.

I am tired of rising health care costs and that 47 million Americans have no coverage at all. Himes will pursue health care reform that works to cover all Americans and reduce costs in the system.

I am tired of rising fuel and gas prices with no end in sight. Himes will work toward creating  a new energy policy that lessens our dependence on foreign oil and fosters development in green energy. This will create new industry and jobs as well as alternatives to sky high oil and gas prices.

I am tired of the destruction to our environment and that we are not leaving the planet in better shape for our children and their children. Himes will work to protect our environment for future generations.

The Redding Democratic Town Committee unanimously endorses Jim Himes to represent us in the Fourth Congressional District. If you are tired of the same old, vote for Jim Himes on August 12 and November.4th. He will bring much needed change. For more information visit www.himesforcongress.com
