Himes will bring fiscal prudence and new thinking

[Sept. 14, 2008] As a physician, I witness on a daily basis the failure of the health care industry status quo to deliver for our community, manifesting with coverage denied, needed treatments and medications deferred because of cost, and the pervasive fear that the unexpected could prove a financial catastrophe for our families.  Our incumbent congressman has seen fit to go along with the status quo, most recently voting last year to deny Medicare the leverage to lower drug costs for seniors. 

Fortunately, we have the opportunity every two years to demand change, and Jim Himes is ready to deliver the new thinking Redding and America need.  His experience in finance will add an important voice in the new Congress to help construct the comprehensive plan that will cover all regardless of preexisting conditions and ability to pay, while being mindful of the needs for fiscal prudence and for relieving businesses of all sizes from taking on new health care-related financial burdens.  Let’s improve our nation’s health by supporting Jim for change.
