Bonfanti: Time to retire Shays
[Letter to the Redding Pilot--May 18, 2008]
We are fortunate to have Jim Himes, an exciting and very well qualified Democrat, running for the seat occupied by Chris Shays in the Connecticut 4th congressional district.

All indications are the next House will be strongly Democratic. Chris Shays, a Bush supporting Republican, will have no influence to do anything for our district and state. Jim Himes' extensive real-life experience will position him to properly represent and influence legislation that supports our needs in such areas as transportation, the environment and housing. Ending this ill-conceived and endless war will be at the top of his list of priorities. It’s time we retire Shays for the the good of our district.
